Academic & Governance Researcher - Member of the Steering Committee
Associate Professor of International Business and Management at the University of Bradford School of Management, where he also leads the MSc International Business and Management programme. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Dr. Adams holds an MBA in Finance (University of Bedfordshire), an LLM in Law (University of York), and a PhD in International Business Management (Swansea University). His career spans North America, Europe, and Africa, having held faculty positions at the University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge, and the University of Education, Kumasi.
Dr. Adams’ research addresses international business strategy, multinational headquarters-subsidiary relations, and the environmental, social, governance, and human rights challenges confronting global corporations. His work has been published in leading outlets including Tourism Management, Journal of International Management, Journal of Business Research, Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Journal of Environmental Management. He serves on the editorial boards of the Thunderbird International Business Review and the Africa Journal of Management.
Beyond academia, Dr. Adams has consulted widely across banking, construction, and tax advisory sectors in the UK, Canada, and Ghana. He has examined PhD theses across multiple continents and serves as an external examiner at Brunel University and Northumbria University. As the founding President of the Ghana Scholarly Society Worldwide, Dr. Adams plays a leading role in connecting African scholars globally and mobilising research expertise to address Africa’s pressing development challenges.
Within AFDEG, Dr. Adams will chair the Academic & Research Track, where he will oversee the call for papers, academic panels, and the integration of research outputs into AFDEG’s Knowledge Hub. He also contributes to research, knowledge exchange, and academic–industry collaboration, ensuring that the Forum’s outputs are rigorous, actionable, and globally relevant.
