Economist & Digital Trade Specialist - Member of the Steering Committee
Dr. Rexford Attah-Boakye – is an accomplished Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Bradford, UK, and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). He holds a PhD in Accounting, an MBA in Financial Management, and an MSc in Information Technology. His academic credentials are complemented by a wide range of professional qualifications, including FCCA, ACCA, ACICM, CQRM, QTS (Mathematics), and a TLA from Oxford, as well as a B. Com (Hons), PGDip in Research, and a Diploma in Accounting.
With a distinguished career spanning both academia and industry, Dr. Attah-Boakye has served as Director of Internal Audit in the banking sector and led financial operations across public and private institutions. His research interests include accounting, taxation, auditing, corporate governance, and the integration of AI in financial systems. He has published in leading peer-reviewed journals and is widely recognised for translating complex financial insights into actionable strategies that improve institutional performance and inform policy reform.
Dr. Attah-Boakye will serve as AFDEG’s Financial Innovation & Accountability Advisor, tasked with:
Designing and implementing AFDEG’s blockchain- and AI-powered accounting and procurement system.
Training AFDEG staff and partners to use these systems effectively.
Using AI-driven financial modelling to forecast revenues, optimise procurement, and match consultants transparently to projects.
Advising on AFDEG’s Financing & Sustainability Strategy, including revenue-sharing mechanisms and endowment development.
Embedding AFDEG’s financial model into toolkits for replication by governments and institutions.
This role positions AFDEG as a continental showcase for how digital finance and procurement can enhance governance, transparency, and sustainable development.
Known for his strong record in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and cross-sector collaboration, Dr. Attah-Boakye is a strategic asset in multi-agency consultancy environments. His leadership style blends analytical rigour with inclusive decision-making, fostering innovation and accountability across diverse teams. Passionate about governance and sustainable development, he brings a pan-African perspective rooted in both academic excellence and practical experience – advancing inclusive, transparent, and resilient growth across Africa. Rexford will chair the Economic Transformation & Digital Trade Track.
